Albemarle Sound Cooperative (ASC) was founded by a group of African American farmers in Williamston, North Carolina. Leveraging opportunities created by the Farm Bill and the NC State Extension Pilot Program, we united to pool our knowledge and resources for collective success in farming, harvesting, and processing hemp.
Our mission is deeply rooted in the principle of retaining heir property. This commitment to preserving land and legacy remains our core philosophy as we welcome new growers.
Officially registered in January 2020, ASC is dedicated to supporting farmers in Eastern North Carolina. We empower African American farmers and landowners through the growth, processing, and sale of hemp products, ensuring our community thrives for generations to come.
