About Us

Who We Are

The Albemarle Sound Cooperative (ASC) is formed pursuant to sub-chapter 54 of the General Statutes of North Carolina. The cooperative aims to provide social, economic, and environmental benefits to Williamston and surrounding communities:

Support sustainable regional agriculture.
Provide access for small-scale farmers to commercial supply chains.
Assist producers in moving towards more sustainable practices.
Drive agricultural and working land protections in the region.
Increase generational wealth.

Our Purpose

The purposes for which Albemarle Sound Cooperative (ASC) are formed:

To associate members together for their mutual benefit and to provide any lawful goods and services to its members and the community.
For production and processing of agricultural products as determined by its Board.
To engage in the following activities:

a. Purchasing, processing and sale of hemp.

b. Offer business support services for members related to

hemp production.

c. Provide education and resources to members.

d. Engage in all activities to attain the purposes of the

Albemarle Sound Cooperative and to exercise all power

now or hereafter permitted by the laws of the state of

North Carolina in sub- chapter 54 of the General Statute

of North Carolina.

e. Members of the ASC must have their Farm Service Plan

submitted by December 31 of the planting year.
